I am an artist, writer, sole trader, mother and wife.
I am the woman behind Büchertiger Studio & Press (the imprint under which I publish my editioned artwork), and Büchertiger Supplies, (my retail business where I sell binding materials).
Artist Statement
I am interested in language, encoding of language and how it relates to culture. Taboos and underlying expectations especially with regards to women and motherhood are of special interesting to me, and I am exploring what makes us see “the other” in a person.
I work with my topics through books. Many but not all feature (short) stories. Just like we can hide some of what we think in what we say, some part of the meaning of my art is usually hidden from plain view. Some books are written in secret or asemic (fake) script, some are within enclosures that have to be destroyed to read them – or maybe to leave intact and never to find out.
Some of my books may have hidden compartments where a perceptive reader can find additional information about what is going on in a story. I have also hidden whole pieces in libraries or put them out in the open to be found and uncovered by a stranger.
I frequently use images of birds, feathers, eggs and fish symbolically.
Birds stand as symbols for freedom and hope. Fish stand for fear and the unknown, the dangers that lurk in deep and dark places.

My other projects
I am one of the organisers of the biannual Notts Book Arts Festival which hosts a series of events aimed at spreading the love of book arts.
I am selling book binding/art supplies under the business name Büchertiger Supplies.
My project message in a bottle is still ongoing (albeit somewhat dormant at the time of writing). For which I create little books and pieces of artwork, send them afloat, and document what I can about them.
I occasionally conduct interviews with artists (book artists all over the world, and all kinds of artists from the region). The interviews can be found in the blog archive here, or on the a-n blog.
