Worktable Weekly – Let’s try

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all made the passage well. What I have been doing since Christmas? Not much in my studio, I must admit. Hubby and I have to struggle to manage to arrange things so that most weeks I can work the 8 hours that I am officially allowed to work while still receiving my parental money. But that includes maintaining my shops and doing the related paperwork, and not much time is/was left for me in the studio. This is a worktable weekly again – but a humble start in the new year, since I forgot to take pictures.

For this week I decided to take on a custom order for a set of three CD cases, and I managed to finish them on time today. It felt good to be “back in business” and accomplish something.

Like usually these days, I had one of my kids, supervising my work:

Hallo und willkommen im Neuen Jahr. Ich hoffe, ihr seid alle gut herrübergekommen ins Jahr 2012. Was ich seit Weihnachten gemacht habe? – Nicht viel, zumindest nicht in meinem Buchatelier. Für diese Woche jedoch hatte ich einen Auftrag für 3 CDhüllen angenommen und bin pünktlich heute fertig geworden. Wie zur Zeit üblich, hatte ich einen Beobachter bei der Arbeit.

Eine Viertelstunde später waren es dann zwei, und noch eine Viertelstunde später war’s mit der Arbeit vorbei. Es hat sich gut angefühlt, wieder mal einen Auftrag fertig zu bekommen! Für die nächste Woche habe ich mir mal wieder viel vorgenommen: Endlich meine Edition von Streichholzschachtelbüchern fertig bekommen, die ich eigentlich schon für den Advent fertig haben wollte, darüber bloggen, und eine Idee für eine Art Slipcase ausprobieren – zu viel für eine Woche. Mal schauen, was ich hinbekomme. Ich werde jedenfalls versuchen, diesmal daran zu denken, Fotos für den Worktable zu machen. Bis dann!

After a quarter of an hour I had two supervisors, and another 15 minutes later I was not making books under supervision but worked as an entertainer. Unfortunately entertaining the twins does not yet include bookbinding.So I didn’t try out the idea I had for a width adjusting slipcase. Maybe I’ll manage next week. My plans include the edition in a matchbook I still want to make, blogging about it, and to make that slipcase. Most likely that is too much for a week. We’ll see what will get done, and I will try to remember to make photos for next week’s worktable.
