Worktable Weekend

And here is a worktable weekend – after so many weeks! As you can see here, the word work”table” is a bit euphemistic, since I am working on the floor. I will have to try to fit at least a board on some bricks, preferably a low table in there, but despite the ill comfort of sitting on the floor with bent knees all the time, I like this corner. And it feels good to work creatively again. I started this new project that sprung to mind while I was unpacking various materials. I am still in the phase where I am switching between experimenting with the materials, and working on the contents. Right now what I have is more like a collection of ideas and text fragments on the one hand, and feelings or wishes where this should go and how the finished object should look and feel like on the other hand. And I was not able to make all the ends meet yet.

Like always in this phase of a project, I believe it will be the best I ever made and find it hard to take breaks from working. Other parts of my life, especially tidying up the last bits of stuff in the new home and the kids are still pretty demanding so that I don’t get to work on it as much as I would like to. Right now I fear I might loose the impetus I am feeling right now and this will end up as another abandoned thing when the first difficulty comes up. It sure wouldn’t be the first project to take that route, and so I refrain from showing you more pictures of my props right now. But who knows, maybe it will all work out very soon. In any case, it feels great to be working again!

  1. Hmmm…. looks almost a bit like an installation piece (love that head!)…. It also gives “getting a new perspective on your work” a whole new meaning. 😉 I am glad you are getting to work a little bit again. Not having access to your supplies would be so frustrating!

    1. Hi Ellen,

that little attic room really is cute and a bliss. I don’t have nearly enough time to work and for myself these days, but in the few minutes I have, I sometimes sneak up and just look at the corner for a minute or so. Those are some of my favorite pieces that I had in my studio before, and find that I love looking at them. – There is still so much to do and arrange, there are some things we just can’t seem to push forward however much we try. And we are all loosing more and more of our initial esprit to get things done.
