Worktable Wednesday – Photographing and mailing stuff

It looks so few now, but felt so much to prepare yesterday. Anyway, I spent my day with photographing a couple of books, and then preparing them for this morning’s shipping out. Among the photos there are some that I already promised to you, so here they finally come:

So zusammengestellt sieht es gar nicht mehr nach viel aus, aber gestern hat es sich nach einer Menge angefühlt. Naja, jedenfalls habe ich gestern meine Zeit damit verbacht, Photos zu machen, und sie dann zu verpacken oder einzustellen. Unter den neuen Bildern sind auch einige, die ich schon länger versprochen habe. Also los geht’s:

Von dem Bild oben habe ich euch schonmal den noch leeren Einband gezeigt. So sieht das Buch nun also inclusive Seiten – und vor allem inclusive Bindung aus. Unten zwei koptisch gebundene Bücher, die ich an meinen ersten Kunden in Katar verschickt habe. Ich hoffe sie kommen gut an, sind jetzt schon seit fast zwei Wochen unterwegs. Ich freue mich, dass Büchertiger Bücher überall in der Welt zu finden sind.

These – I do hope they will reach their destination safely! – is the result of my first order from Qatar. It makes me happy to know my books can be found all over the world!

This book was a special pleasure to make. My customer, a guy from Austria, chose the design and materials this way. I tried to tell him that a closure on such a book, even a magnetic closure won’t look good. And I also tried to make him choose more design elements for the covers. Now I am glad he insisted. I do have a lot to learn from my customers.

Das Buch oben ging nach Österreich. Mir gefällt das schlichte Design, und auch der Verschluss sieht gut aus; gut dass mein Kunde darauf insistiert hat, obwohl ich eigentlich abgeraten habe. (Nicht nötig. Passt nicht zum Rest des Designs – aber dieses Problem hat sich ja dann doch noch gelöst.)
