Elissa of Blue Roof Designs (yes, the winner of the BEST Zombie Award) started a new series on her blog which she calls Worktable Wednesday. In that series, she simply shoots some photos of what she is doing on each Wednesday. I like that idea to show off some random work in progress, and I’ll have a go at it, too.
Unfortunately I decided to do so this morning, so all I can show off of yesterday’s work is how it looks like this morning which shows nothing of the work in progress: I enjoyed planning and carving a (maybe) new book series’s covers from a lino plate. The heading (“Notebook” here) can be taken out and be replaced by a different word. The titles “Thoughts”, “Logbook”, “Diary”, “Journal”, “Sketchbook”, and “Dreambook” are prepared. – What do you think? Is there one title you especially like, or another one you would propose to include? Also the design on the lower half can be taken out, and be replaced by a different one – several are sketched in my sketchbook, but none caved so far. On the photo below you can see that the plate is composed of several pieces. That is why I mounted it on the wood.
But that was merely experimenting. I just followed a spontaneous idea and the impulse to work with linoleum again. Actually, I was planning to focus more on those lines of journals that I already have. And the only one I wanted to develop are the printed leather books, on which I should be working now. – So maybe this was just the work of one afternoon, that will be stashed for later or tossed. Or maybe my interest will persist, and it will indeed end as a new series. I’ll see where this will lead me.

Sie hat vor, jeden Mittwoch einfach Photos davon zu präsentieren was gerade auf ihrem Arbeitstisch liegt und passiert. Die Idee finde ich super, und ich dachte, ich mache ihr das einfach mal nach. Weil ich das erst heute morgen beschlossen habe, kann ich von gestern nur den bereits wieder aufgeräumten Tisch mit dem Ergebnis präsentieren.
Ich hatte viel Spaß dabei, Deckel für (vielleicht eine neue Serie) Bücher zu planen und ein bisschen das Linoleum dafür zu schnitzen. Der Titel (hier “Notebook”) kann ausgetauscht werden, und die folgenden sind bereits vorbereitet: “Thoughts”, “Logbook”, “Diary”, “Journal”, “Sketchbook” und “Dreambook”. Was meint ihr – gefällt euch eines davon besonders? Sollte ich noch weitere aufnehmen, zum Beispiel auch auf deutsch? Vielleicht sollte ich zumindest “Tagebuch” noch schnitzen. Der untere Teil ist ebenfalls austauschbar. Andere Designs finden sich schon in meinem Skizzenbuch, aber noch ist kein weiteres fertig.
Aber eigentlich war das erstmal auch nur eine Spielerei, denn eigentlich wollte ich mich in der nächsten Zeit ja auf die Serien konzentrieren, die ich schon habe, insbesondere die Monsterbücher und die Jeansbücher ein bisschen ausbauen. Da bin ich gestern nur einem spontanen Einfall und Impuls gefolgt. – Ich werde sehen, wohin mich das führt. Vielleicht mache ich da weiter, vielleicht wird das auch einfach erstmal beiseite gelegt.
Und nächste Woche könnte ihr dann mit mehr Fotos und vor allem mit Fotos vom Arbeitsprozess selbst rechnen.
