I make one-off and small edition artist books. You can purchase them directly through me, in my Etsy Shop, and a selection of books is also available from Vamp and Tramp (please check both the section miniature books and the section artist books) and Abecedarian Gallery. I am proud to present a selection here:
Project Message in a Bottle
Erased is a poem I wrote in 2014. One of the defining features is that it has been cancelled, crossed out. I have used this poem in one of my messages in bottles, but it was also bound into three books, one made by me and two copies, all one of a kind, were made by Zoran Vidakovic.
Gegen den Nachtmahr (edition of 12)
Absences (open edition)
Absences is a short story in form of a dialogue between a woman and a police officer. The protagonist reports strange disappearances from her apartment in the end she has to realize that much more is missing. A surprising story, funny in a bittersweet way.
Chasing Infinity. Meditations with Straight Edge…
Die Stadt — The City
This is a story about a search that failed due to culture shock. The whole book is bilingual from title to blurb. The centrefold, separating the two languages, is a handcut and hand assembled pop-up image. The whole book fits inside a matchbox.
Frozen in Time
Frozen in Time (often just Frozen for short), is a book about photography and our wish to capture an those freeze moments and memories. Structurally it consists of eight panels or pages, each lengthwise folded three times to fit into a crown book which sits inside a case.
Old lace is the result of a book exchange on Jackie’s Bookbinding Forum. The title of the exchange was “lace” or “old lace”. Most of the participants just made blank books, but I immediately had this story in mind… One copy went off to my swap partner, the second one, different in many details, is the one you can see here.
To date I made three books, Moebius I-III, in this series of books in the form of a Moebius strip. As is the nature of the strip, there is no first or last page, there are pages on “both sides” of the strip, and the reader goes round and round in circles while reading it.
Du bist min. ich bin din. (Edition of 12)
Monster’s Eyes (open, varying edition)
This little booklet features 25 different pairs of monster’s eyes, two of them with the head as well. The book is folded in an accordion style, when closed it is about 8cm x 6cm in size; that’s approximately 3.2″ x 2.4″
To Touch and To Cut (Edition of 20)
The Smiley Oracle (Edition of 16)
Nag Hammadi Interpretation II (Varying Edition of 2)
Nag Hammadi Interpretation I
The codices in Nag Hammadi are the oldest known to us. Their finding was interesting theologically, as they contained the first known full version of the gospel of Thomas. They are also an important find regardign the archaeology of book binding.
