Creative Blogger Award

Thank you to Angela of Precious Little Birdy for nominating me for the Stylish blogger Award. To receive it, I am supposed to follow three steps:

Step 1: Link back to the person who awarded the prize. (Done)

Step 2: Share 7 random things about myself. (See below)

Step 3: Nominate 15 other blogs to receive it. – Of course I could select 15 of the 75 blogs whose RSS feed I am subscribed to. But 15 just takes off the effect, I think. It so fast becomes just a list. Also, if this award included to nominate just 2, the amount of awarded blogs would already increase exponentially, so I see no need for so many nominations… So I decided to share just three of the blogs I am reading. If you are among them, you are of course free to apply the original set up rules if you are so inclined.

1. Elissa’s Blue Roof Designs Blog. She writes lively about her work, teaching, and working alongside her young, book making niece. And I like her books! Also she is the one who started and got me started on the worktable Wednesdays.
2. Vanessa’s Blog Kirschbits. A generally crafty blog with a lot of bags, food and links to tutorials.
3. Made by May. A lot of box making as well as general bookbinding.

The hardest part was to find 7 random facts about me that could be interesting. – That is why it took me so long to accept the award. Let’s see…

1. My favorite ice cream flavor might be green tea ice. At least if we are talking about one ice cream ball. It is best when topped with sweet red beans. But if we are talking about a pint of ice cream (and I tend to eat one in just one go if I get my fingers on one) then I love chocolate + caramel mixtures. Mhmmm!
2. I have never been to London. I planned going several times, and for some reason or another I never made it. – But one day….
3. My favorite food probably is sesame balls like you can get them at a dim sum restaurant. Unfortunately I cannot find them in Germany. I am very sad about that! I generally love these dim sum locations where they are serving food by going around the table with small carriages, showing what they have in their steamer. (Those locations are hard to find in the first place.) Last time I was at such a restaurant was in Chicago. One old woman passed our table, and didn’t even bother to stop. Matthias asked her what she had, and with a dismissive gesture she listed some foods I don’t remember right now, of which she apparently assumed we wouldn’t be interested in. Among them chicken feet. “Yes. Chicken Feet!” I exclaimed with a big grim – to her delight. She then tried to teach me to say chicken feet in Cantonese, but I didn’t manage, or at least everything I tried to say resulted in her giggling and finally giving up. I like these small encounters in these restaurants. I celebrated my birthday in such a Chinese restaurant in New York once, and it happened that it was Chinese New Year, and a woman with whom we shared a table even gave each of us a red envelope. You don’t make such contacts here in Germany it seems.
4. I usually need an audio book to fall asleep. Sometimes, when I am really lucky, hubby reads to me until I am asleep.
5. I don’t like camping. I have not done a lot of it in the first place. But have some awful memories of sleeping too near the ground, in a tent, with having to put on shoes to go to the toilet and other people snoring next to me on a small camping site – not my idea of a fun vacation.
6. I love the ocean. I am a little afraid (or rather disgusted) by fish and the idea they could touch me, and don’t like swimming in lakes. But for the ocean with waves and cool water, I easily overcome the disgust of walking over algae and the fear of meeting jelly- or other fish there to have a swim. Wonderful! I also like the smell of the salt water, and just walking along the beach. I love seeing the sky touch the horizon, and the shrill cry of the sea gulls.
7. Two of my toes on my left foot are conjoined up to the first joint. Hubby calls them my “devil’s toe”. I don’t think it shows up much since I have quite short toes anyway. But then, I am very used to seeing it.

2. 7 Fakten über mich auflisten. (siehe unten)
   
3. 15 weitere Blog nominieren. Also 15 war mir einfach zu viel. Natürlich könnte ich einfach 15 blogs von den 75 auswählen, deren RSS Feed ich zum Beispiel abonniert habe, aber 15 erscheint mir trotzdem einfach zu viel. Deshalb gibt’s nur drei. Wenn die drei nominierten den Originalregeln folgen wollen, können sie das natürlich gerne tun.

1. Elissa’s Blue Roof Designs Blog. Da gibt es viele Bilder von ihrer buchbinderischen Arbeit zu sehen. Sie schreibt unterhaltsam über ihre Arbeit, das Unterrichten, und über ihre kleine Nichte, die auch gerade das Buchbinden entdeckt. Sie ist auch diejenige, von der ich die Idee mit den Worktable Wednesdays übernommen habe.
   
2. Vanessa’s Blog Kirschbits. Ein allgemein handwerklicher/bastel-blog mit einem Schwerpunkt im Nähen, vielen Rezepten und Links zu Anleitungen.
   
3. Made by May. Hier werden eine Menge Boxen gemacht, und überhaupt buchbinderische Arbeit vorgestellt.

Am schwierigsten war es, sieben Fakten über mich zu finden, die nicht total blödsinnig sind. Deshalb hat es auch so lange gedauert, bis ich den Preis angenommen habe. Nun denn…

1. Meine Lieblingseissorte ist Grüner Tee Eis. Zumindest wenn wir über Eiskugeln und Nachtisch reden. Am besten ist’s wenn es mit süßen roten Bohnen garniert ist. Wenn wir über Halblitertöpfe von Eis sprechen, die ich locker auch mal einfach so vor dem Fernseher oder in der Sonne sitzend aufessen kann, dann mag ich ja am liebsten irgendwelche Schokolade-Karamell Variationen und Mischungen.
2. Ich war noch nie in London. Da will ich aber mal hin!
3. Ich vermisse Dim Sum Restaurants hier in Deutschland. Kennengelernt habe ich sie in den USA, und natürlich war ich auch während meines einwöchigen Aufenthalts in HongKong eine Menge Dim Sum essen. Mhmmm. Ein bisschen davon bekommt man manchmal hier auch in China Restaurants, aber am besten ist’s wenn sie mit den Wägelchen an den Tischen vorbeiziehen, und das habe ich hier noch nicht gefunden. Am liebsten mag ich die Sesam Bällchen, die es da gibt, und die habe ich noch nie gesehen.
4. Ich höre normalerweise Hörbücher zum Einschlafen, ohne fällt’s mir schwer. Manchmal liest mein Mann mir vor bis ich einschlage, das ist dann besonders schön.
5. Ich mag Camping und vor allem Zelten gar nicht.
   
6. Dafür liebe ich den Atlantik und alle Ozeane. (Das Mittelmeer fand’ ich ein bisschen langweilig, zumindest so wie es sich bei Marseille präsentiert hat.)
7. Zwei meiner Zehen sind bis zum ersten Glied zusammengewachsen. M. nennt sie meine Teufelszehe. Im Unterschied zu ihm meine ich ja, das fällt gar nicht so auf, weil ich sowieso so kurze Zehen hab’. Aber ich bin den Anblick ja auch schon immer gewöhnt.
